Ezra Pillay, LLB, MBA is a governance, compliance, and risk professional with extensive experience supporting organizations at national and international levels. He brings expertise in corporate law, regulatory compliance, strategic planning, risk management, organizational governance, and conflict management, with a particular focus on developing accountable and sustainable systems.

Ezra currently serves as Governance & Compliance Manager for the South African Sugar Association, overseeing governance and compliance functions and providing legal and strategic support to executive leadership, industry forums, and multiple oversight committees. His work includes legislative interpretation, risk management, data protection, international commercial agreements, and comprehensive governance reviews.

He also serves on the Advisory Board of the Department of Applied Law at Durban University of Technology and as General Legal Counsel and Company Secretariat for Grace International Africa, a pan-African nonprofit organization. Previously, he established the compliance function at Trade & Investment KwaZulu-Natal and served as a Legal Compliance Specialist with LexisNexis South Africa.

Ezra is experienced in facilitating collaboration among diverse stakeholders, reconciling differing perspectives, and communicating complex legal and regulatory matters to non-specialist audiences. His leadership approach emphasizes integrity, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

He holds an MBA in Managing International Organisations from the University of Stellenbosch and an LLB from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He is also an ISO 37301 Lead Implementer of Compliance Management Systems.
